why not meditate ….

i went to a delicious meditation class this morning

&

i feel lighter but richer,

empty but abundant

airy but grounded …

do you meditate? if not, try it …

all you need to do is close your eyes, sit in a comfortable sitting position, place your palms on your knees facing down or up and breathe. feeling your spine long, bring your awareness to your breath, feel your sitting bones grounding you to the earth, breathe in and breathe out, picture yourself sitting in a lush field with the sun on your head, on your skin. imagine yourself lighter but richer, imagine yourself empty but abundant, imagine yourself light  but grounded –  imagine & breathe…

100 benefits of meditation

lovely to see ….

i couldn’t help but smile and feel a delicious warmth in my heart when i looked up and saw that one of the yoginis i was guiding through her practise this morning had her eyes closed. she was letting go. i remembered back to our first class together and how i observed an energy; a being who was fighting with her inner self, letting her ego win and unable to just let go. but today there was a different energy about her . she was letting go, she was melting into the earth below her, she was using her breath to anchor her – she was present and  i felt honoured to share in her experience.

if you think you don’t have time, you do. if you think you can’t fit it into your life, you can. yoga isn’t only about twisting and bending – its a breath, its a journey, its a glorious, peaceful idea that you can bring to all aspects of your life.

see you on the mat.

transitions ….

Image

Transitions are never easy but if you really think about it – they happen all the time.

Our body changes with each breath and our breath helps us move with the rhythm of change.

When you are staring at transition in the eye, remember that its part of this natural rhythm, this natural flow. The more you practise non attachment while in this natural rhythm, the less you feel locked in, dropped into a bucket, overwhelmed. It might just take a simple smile, a simple mantra, a simple yoga pose, a simple thought to bring you back to this natural rhythm.

Yoga grounds us in time of transition – its a grounding force that allows us to root down, to self reflect, self renew and to appreciate the ebbs & flows of life.

Dear Yoga,

Thank you for allowing me to feel grounded through my transitions, grabbing my feet just before I fall into the bucket of negativity. Reminding me to smile when I feel the shackles of despair around my wrists.  You bring breath to my life, an ebb & flow, a sense of balance and grounding.

Sincerely, Me

Mountain Pose is a delicious grounding asana:  STAND TALL. LIFT your heart. ROOT your feet to the earth below you. CLOSE your eyes. FEEL the earth below your feet. RELAX your shoulders, tongue & jaw. PLACE your arms beside your body with palms facing out. SMILE and BREATHE ….

sunshine magic …

as I stepped outside about to walk to starbucks for my ‘london fog’ ( yummy), i  looked up, i stopped, i noticed the sun, i quickly ran back in & grabbed my sunglasses, i walked back out again and this time i couldn’t help but smile. my senses were on high alert. my heart felt warm, my skin felt comfortable & my nose fell in love with the chloe perfume on my baby blue wooly scarf. i wanted to give myself a hug, i wanted to give this day a hug. so i did. i became present as i walked smiling – in the magical rays of the sun, in this glorious winter day, even more excited to taste my ‘london fog’. thank you sun 4 your magic – you bloody rock!!
